F REQUENTLY A SKED Q UESTIONS Q: How long has Lynn Jachney Charters been in business? A: Lynn Jachney charters was established in 1968 as an independent charter brokerage office. Recognized as a leader in the charter industry, Lynn Jachney has won numerous accolades.
A: LJC is happy to accept credit cards for deposits only. We accept VISA and MasterCard. Q: What happens to my deposit? A: Your deposit is held in a secured escrow account with funds released to the yacht just shortly before the charter. This is a non-interest-bearing escrow account. Q: What is included in our charter rate? A: Most boats in the Virgin Islands include food and house bar as well as fuel. Dockage is not needed as you are normally at anchor. Local cruising taxes are not included. For Caribbean charters from St. Martin to Venezuela, food is usually included and bar is extra. Port fees and taxes are on the client's account. Some larger yachts have a base price and expenses such as food, fuel, bar and dockage are extra. In the Mediterranean, food and bar are generally not included, nor is dockage or local port fees or taxes. Q: Can we decide where to go? A: We will work out an itinerary with you and you will discuss itinerary possibilities with your captain. The charter is as flexible as possible within the time frame of the charter. Q: We love to sail. Can we help sail? A: The crew on sailing yachts welcome your involvement. Let us know what your interest is and we will pass that on to the captain who will include you as much as you want.
A: You will be able to be off the yacht every day and an itinerary can be set around your interests and wishes to explore ashore. Q: What should we take on our cruise? A: As little as possible? You'll live in bathing suits in the Tropics, casual clothing, slacks, a few dressy outfits, a windbreaker or foul-weather jacket for the occasional windy day. Heavier clothing is needed for Alaska and New England. In the Mediterranean you will want a few more shoreside outfits. Bring sunscreen, a sun hat, sun glasses, your camera and lots of film. Then relax. Cruising is informal. Please pack your clothing in soft, collapsible or duffel-type bags for easy stowage on your yacht.
